Seika Saidan that feature

[The ZAO MOUNTAINS]
When we showed our catalog to a funeral host, he said that one of the Seika
Saidan in the catalog had a line that looked like a caldera in the Yamagata Zao
Mountains. That led us to the decision to erect an altar that featured the
caldera and the ridges of the Yamagata Zao Mountains.
With dimensions of 10.8 meters in width by 3.3 meters in height, this Seika
Saidan represents the caldera in the Yamagata Zao Mountains as a motif. In the
Zao district, there is a round caldera lake surrounded by mountains. Called
O-Kama, meaning an iron pot, it is much loved by the local people of Yamagata.
The lake water is so strongly acidic that no creature lives in it.
Reflecting different colors, depending on the sunlight, it is a most mysterious
lake.
The upper right part of the altar depicts the well-known mountain ridge,
locally called Uma-no-Se, or the horseback.
Multiple ridges are expressed with the gradation of round chrysanthemums, spray
mums and small chrysanthemums. Two patches of phalaenopses represent clouds.
A haze over the mountains is created using white fluff of fine fibers while the
beautiful emerald green lake surface is made of green mums.
